AMD RX Vega 64 is one of the best cryptocurrency mining GPU. They give the best hashrate for every mining hash rate, which would result in a higher profit.
There are many ways you can build cryptocurrency mining rigs with different graphics cards. Today, we are going to build the Vega 64 Mining Rig.
Here, today I’m going to show you how to gain $20+ / day in profit with our new mining rig that I will be helping you with.
Suppose you have read my previous article about monero mining rig build. This is just similar to it. You can refer to that as well for more info, even though this guide will help you.
I’m going to help you build a 6 GPU RX Vega 65 Monero Mining Rig and help you run it.
So, let’s get started –
Update – The Mining Rig works today, too & can mine above $20 per day. (JAN 05 2021)

Build 6 GPU Rx Vega 64 Monero Mining Rig
If you were in the mining business or not, you might have heard that GPU prices were skyrocketed.
But, now, most of the GPU has been returned at MSRP. That means prices have returned to base.
I will guide you on how you can choose the graphics cards, motherboard, etc. But most importantly, how you can save much of your expenditure on your mining equipment & get maximum output.
First of all – I will show you how to build a 6 GPU mining rig. In the end, I will show you how to achieve more than $19+/day in the end.
So, keep looking till the end.
There is various mining equipment required to build a mining rig. Combining, we create one rig that we call a mining rig.
I will instruct you step by step on needed hardware.
Let’s get started –
1. Radeon RX Vega 64
You need 6 of them.
Sapphire manufactures one of the best graphics cards. We are going with this particular card Sapphire VEGA 64.
We have 3 fans on the card, which will help in keeping the card cool.
If we talk about the hasrates that are given by VEGA 64 for mining cryptocurrency, they are as follows –
Algorithm | Hashrates / 1 Vega 64 |
Equihash | 450.0 Sol/s |
Ethash | 40.0 Mh/s |
Cryptonight | 1850.0 h/s |
NeoScrypt | 2000.0 kh/s |
Lyra2REv2 | 13000.0 kh/s |
These are the hashrates that you will get with the specific mining algorithm.
I.e., Ethash includes – Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Music Coin, Unbiq, etc.
Equihash – Zcash, Zclassic, Bitcoin Gold, etc.
Cryptonight – Monero, Electroneum, etc.
NeoScrypt – Crowdcoin, Viva, Trezarcoin, etc.
Lyra2REv2 – Monacoin, Vertcoin, etc.
But as we can see, NeoScrypt & Cryptonight algorithm is the best to be mined with VEGA cards – VEGA 64/56. But they are not the best at mining Equihash.
So, to build our mining rig, we need 6 VEGA 64 graphics cards.
VEGA 64 uses 250 W of power per card. I will mention what to mine with VEGA 64 in the end.
2. EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G3 PSU
You need 2 of these.
If we calculate the power needed to run our mining rig, here is our calculation –
6 * VEGA 64 uses 250W = 1500W
Motherboard + RAM+ CPU = 250 W
Total = 1750W
We need a Power Supply Unit that gives the output of 1750W.
But, here we are going with 2 x 1000W PSU = 2000W PSU.
That is because we are saving a lot of expenditure and getting a lot of power. Let me explain it to you.
If you buy 1600W of PSU, you will spend more than $370, and you will need one more PSU to supply about 150W.
But here we can get one 1000W of PSU just for $170 (near about), and if we are getting 2 of them, we are spending less than $370 and are getting more Watt of power. By getting this, we can increase one more Graphics card in the future.
How many GPUs on each PSU?
You can go with 3 on each PSU.
3. ASUS PRIME Z270-A LGA1151
I have been recommending this mining motherboard to a lot of people. It is one of the best that you can use.
As we are building 6 GPU mining rigs, this motherboard supports 8 GPUs. So, we do not need to worry about increasing the no. of GPUs in the future.
This motherboard supports DDR4 RAM & LGA1151 CPU.
A motherboard is not responsible for more hashrates. It doesn’t matter if you buy a $1000 motherboard or a $100 motherboard. It only should support everything that is needed.
4. Patriot Memory Viper Elite Series DDR4 4GB
Beginners often mistake by getting a higher memory of RAM for a mining rig. But, that is not needed at all.
We need RAM to power up the rig and keep the mining software running. 4GB of RAM is more than sufficient for properly running the rig. This particular RAM is 4GB & is manufactured by Patriot.
5. SanDisk SSD PLUS 120GB
There is not a doubt that Sandisk is the ultimate manufacturer of storage devices. I’m personally using SanDisk 120GB SSD & it is performing very well.
You don’t need higher storage for mining.
These are common mistakes that are done –
- People are using the HDD, which is too old. This makes the rig slow. Also, it will really take much time to start mining. What if there is an electricity outage? Your rig will take much time to start. With SSD, the rig will start as fast as possible, and you will be mining in no time.
- Buying SSD that have very high storage. High storage is not required. You are just spending just so much on it.
SSD’s use very low power, so you will be saving that too. My advice is to go with SSD rather than HDD. Yes, SSD’s are a bit higher than HDD, but it is worth spending that much.
6. 6-Pack PCI-E Riser VER 007
You need PCIe Risers to connect Graphic Cards to the motherboard. Risers will help you connect all the GPU’s to the motherboard. There are 7 PCIe slots on the motherboard where you can attach the Risers.
Many noobs ask where do I attach Risers. I can only attach 4 Risers. Where do I put others?
Here is an image you can refer too –
7. Intel Pentium LGA1151 Processor
I’ve got a number of emails asking do I need an i7 processor to start mining?
No, you don’t need any high-end processors. We are building a mining rig specifically for GPU, not for CPU mining.
CPU is needed to run the mining rig. We are not going to run any of the mining processes on the CPU. By buying a Pentium processor, we are saving a lot by not investing extra. You can even go with Celeron LGA1151 Processors too.
8. Thermaltake Dual 24-Pin Mining Adapter Cable
As we are using two 1000W PSUs, we need a mining adapter to use both the PSUs to run our mining rig. This way, we can attach all the mining hardware and run them all together. It is effortless to use. You will attach both the 12 Pin adapter of the PSU.
And you will attach one end of the adapter to the motherboard.
9. ATX Power switch
There isn’t any button on the motherboard that will help you start your mining rig. If there isn’t any, you will need to start it with a screwdriver or with ATX Power Switch.
It is effortless to use ATX Power Switch and will probably very handy.
ATX Power Switch comes with 2 of them, which you will use to turn on the rig or turn it off. There is a button on the wire.
I would highly recommend you get this. It is very cheap but essential as well.
10. Windows 10
You need to have an operating system to run the rig and also the mining software. You can either go with Windows or Linux. But, if you are not familiar with Linux, I would recommend you going with Windows 10.
Windows 10 does support mining & a number of GPU.
11. 8 GPU Open Mining Frame
I would, first of all, tell you to build your own mining frame than building one. It would help if you had a few aluminum rods and some hard work.
If you are ordering the products, it will take some time to arrive, and you can use that time to build a mining frame.
But if you are super busy, you can buy this frame. ASTARIN manufactures it. Super cheap, near about $60.
How To Setup Mining Rig
So, now you have all the hardware, here are things that you will have to do after receiving it. I’m summing it up in short so that this does not get a very long article.
- Assemble all the hardware. Attach PSU, CPU, RAM, etc.
- Attach only one GPU to the motherboard.
- Now connect the HDMI cable of the monitor to the GPU.
- Install Windows.
- When you are done with windows, install graphics drivers. You will get the CD of drivers or download them from the internet from the official website.
- Now restart the rig.
- Now turn off the rig. Then attach all the GPU.
- See if all the GPUs are connected and are running well.
- Overclock the GPU. Yes, overclocking will give you more hash rates, and you will more than you mine in general.
Now you are done with everything. Now let’s see what you should mine to get more than $19 per day.
I will advise you on what coin you should mine with this rig and possible guidance on getting more profit.
Be sure that you bookmark this page so that when I update the article, you will see what to mine. I will advise you on this rig.
21 May – Mining GoByte (GBX)
GoByte is a good coin that uses the NeoScrypt algorithm. GBX is currently listed on cryptopia that is where you can sell GBX.
With 6 VEGA 64, we will be able to achieve 13200 kh/s with proper overclocking. That will be enough to get us near about $18 per day.
But wait, I did say that we would be getting more than 19$.
Right now, GBX is recovering. If we mine and store GBX and sell it at a higher price, we will cross the $19 mark.
How to mine GBX?
- Download the pre-configured miner from here – Download Vega GBX miner.
- Extract it.
- Right-click on the miner.bat file & then click on edit.
- Then replace – putyourwalletadresshere with your GBX wallet address.
- Save & then run miner.bat.
Then you are done.
6 June – Mining Trezarcoin TZC
If you’ve been mining GBX, it’s time that you shift and start mining Trezarcoin TZC. It’s currently listed on cryptopia.
If you are good at reading charts, you can clearly see that TZC is on the rise. You can mine, and then you can sell at the peak price. Currently, the price of TZC is near about $0.020.
You can aim to sell your TZC at $0.023 or $0.022.
You can use this guide to configure mining TZC. Be sure that you download NSG miner for AMD GPU.
14 June – Mining GBX or ETN
As of now, there might be few problems with TZC Trezrcoin mining is currently lagging. If you are mining GBX, then you should not shift.
If you are looking for another coin to mine, you can go ahead and mine ETN Electroneum. You can refer to this article on mining Electroneum.
5 Jan 2021 – Mining Ethereum
Ethereum can give you about $20 per day of profit. The profit has been increased due to massive ethereum price growth.
Doesn’t the Sapphire Nitro RX Vega 64 require 3 PCI-e power connectors, and isn’t that a problem for this build? The specs on the power supply show that it includes 8×6+2 PCI-e power connectors. This appears to mean that one power supply can only power 2 of these cards if they each take 3. So only 4 cards total. You would have two left over from each PSU, but not sure if you can take 2 from one and 1 from the other to power a 5th card.
I am new to this and this is purely from the specs. Is there a way around this that I am missing?
It’s great that you mentioned this. I forgot to mention that but you can go with – 6 Pin to dual PCIe 8 Pin (6+2) Graphics Card PCI Express Power Adapter GPU VGA Y-splitter Extension Cable. You can buy it from Amazon.
I see. So for each card you would have one straight power connection and one split? Can these be from a single rail to support each card?
Yeah that will work!!
